Crear is a place next to the Crear burn, near Kilberry in Knapdale, Argyll and is probably the gaelic criathar, meaning a riddle or sieve. So it is a place for taking the essential out of the mixture, just as one would when panning for gold. With Crear weddings, the gold is the joining of a couple in a beautiful lasting relationship and whatever the weather, it is the wedding couple that make the day.
